The word ergometry is made of two Greek words, namely ergon (meaning “work”) and metron (the minimal unit of measure in classical Greek verse). Ergometry translates as “work measurement”. An ergometer, therefore, measures the work and energy of an individual during physical exercise.

I never thought that I had a problem with sugar. After all, I did not particularly enjoy sweet food.

Yet I was somehow consuming 140 grams (around 5 ounces) or more of added sugar a day. That meant 4.2 kilograms (9.25 pounds) in a month and 50 kilograms (110 pounds) in a year. Apple finally launched its new AirTag at its Spring Loaded event on April 20, 2021. The AirTag was the only brand-new item launched at the event; the other announcements (iMac, iPad Pro, iPhone 12, and AppleTV 4K) were upgrades of existing products.

Reflections on My First Month of Writing

When I started writing on the platform a month ago, I swore to myself that I would not write about writing. The idea seemed too self-indulgent and too meta. Moreover, I felt like there were too many articles about writing on the platform. What additional value could I possibly provide?

Nevertheless, it is my reluctant observation that articles on writing tend to focus on how to be successful on the platform, which is narrowly defined in terms of how to foster greater reader engagement, attract more followers, secure a higher percentage of curation, etc.

Walking was the first step of my fat-loss journey. I had been living a sedentary lifestyle. Six months ago, I had an epiphany as I was preparing to move home after a series of overseas assignments. I had accumulated too much stuff, most of which had no functional or sentimental value.

In decluttering my possessions, I traced my materialistic accumulation back to my childhood. It dawned on me that the habit was a legacy of the achievement-reward system that my mother had created during my childhood.

It will be a long journey to overcome this unhealthy habit. However, I am confident that it will be worth the effort.
